3.02 Special Recognition: MES Bookmark Winners. Evylina S., Ashely H., Katie S., Ethan B., and Austin M. from Matapeake Elementary School received Honorable Mention in the Maryland Judiciary Conflict Resolution Student Art Contest.
3.03 Hero Award: Deny C., Kennard Elementary. Nominated by Ms. Russum. Award sponsored by Six Flags, Anti-Bullying Committee, and Character Counts. Deny is a friend to everyone at Kennard and helps make everyone feel included.
3.04 Special Recognition: Unsung Hero at Chesapeake College Black History Month Luncheon. Jamira W. (KIHS), Javazyera B. (QACHS), and Sydney K. (QACHS) were award Unsung Hero awards for being a positive influence and making a difference in their schools.
3.05 Special Recognition: Working Artist's Forum/First Lady's Art Gallery. Sydney K., QACHS. Sydney's artwork is shown in the Maryland First Lady's Art Gallery and won a scholarship from the Working Artist's Forum.
3.06 Special Recognition: Pride in being a QACHS Lion. Isiah D. Isiah is a QACHS Lion who is a dedicated supporter to the QACHS Lions basketball team. He also is a huge helping hand at QACHS and is one of the most dependable and hard working students. QACHS staff and basketball players showed their appreciation.
3.07 Spirit Award: Erin Holthaus, Matapeake Elementary. Nominated by Jeannine Neccessary. Mrs. Holthaus brings a positive attitude and great spirit to the staff and students of MES.
3.08 Energizer Bunny: Stephan Rafter. Nominated by Jeannine Neccessary. Sponsored by Bayview Investment. Mr. Rafter is a go-to person at MES and goes above and beyond to make sure that all students succeed at MES.
Citizen Participation: Richard McNeal regarding Superintendent Search, school updates, and retired employee health benefits support. Mrs. Anthony, Teacher/Union Representative regarding support of proposed calendar with reflection to added PD to January 2018.
Student Board Member Report
KIHS: Working on next year's Master Schedule. April 27th is Prom Promise. Prom April 29th. Thank you to local business for all of their support to prom activities. Medical Intervention for PLTW coming up.
QACHS: Carson Scholarship Award winners. April 25th is Prom Promise. Prom April 29th.
6.01 Secondary and Elementary Data: Mrs. Hoban and Ms. Pauls shared test data as relates to high school graduation requirements. Shared initiatives and next steps.
6.02 Legislative Audit: Mrs. Landgraf. Auditors are a non-partisan agency that provides audit services to the General Assembly. Audited because of Bridge to Excellence in Public Schools Act in 2002 for receiving more state funding. Audits conducted every six years at the least. Auditing how we collect revenue, our processes, how we report, and looking at how we collect and pay bills. They do not do much with grants. Audited in 2006 and 2011.
6.03 Athletics: Dan Harding, Athletic Director KIHS. Brian Kelley, Athletic Director, QACHS. An overview of the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 sports season at QACHS and KIHS. Both high schools go in depth regarding the student participation, gate receipts/revenue, budget requests, and how their money is allocated. One Athletic Trainer at each high school has shown to be a huge benefit for the health and safety of all athletes.

1.01 Call to order
1.02 Motion to move into Closed Session to discuss the Superintendent Search and review the Board of Education Handbook
2.01 Math Data - Rob Watkins and Janet Pauls. Mr. Watkins and Ms. Pauls gave a presentation recapping the Math Department. They discussed graduation requirements, state and local requirements, test data, and initiatives moving forward
3.01 High School Schedules - Brad Engel, Bob Willis (QACHS), Kelly Ruby (KIHS), John Schrecongost (KIHS). The High School Counselors gave an overview of their departments, their school's master schedule, and their scheduling process. Each school recapped their scheduling events, year-long activities, and timeline in which they get all students schedules ready and create a yearlong master calendar for both students and staff. They also discussed programs and information for post-high school prospects, whether that be college, trade school and career.
